COVID-19 UPDATES - Updated: April 18th

Medidas drásticas também foram tomadas em Nova York, como em muitos outros estados, para tentar conter a disseminação do coronavírus - COVID-19. Bloqueio de voos para a Europa, fechamento de escolas, proibição de eventos. E é notícia de algumas horas atrás que o presidente Trump declarou a Emergência Nacional. Os teatros e museus da Broadway fecharão, além de restaurantes e bares, a Starbucks também provavelmente fechará todas as suas lojas, e tudo isso está mudando diariamente e afetando fortemente a maneira como os nova-iorquinos estão acostumados a trabalhar, comer e viver suas vidas diárias.



Mesmo que na cidade e em alguns lugares como o Central Park ainda pareçamos estar vivendo uma vida um tanto normal, basta ir a supermercados e farmácias para perceber como tudo está mudando. Prateleiras vazias, fila longa nos caixas...

A situação certamente está constantemente atualizando e evoluindo. Por enquanto, apresentamos a longa lista de eventos suspensos e o fechamento de muitas instituições famosas até novo aviso..
MLS, Major League Soccer, has suspended games at least for 30 days.
NHL has suspended the 2019/2020 season.
NCAA, March Madness, college basketball, is played behind closed doors.
NASCAR has postponed the next two races in Atlanta and Homestead-Miami.

Eventos cancelados e fechamentos temporários

Among the canceled events, the St. Patrick's Parade is canceled for the first time in 258 years.
The Half Marathon to be held on March 15th.
The Tribeca Film Festival has been postponed
The Bronx Botanical Gardens closed until further notice
The new Edge observatory, inaugurated on March 11th, closed until further notice
Madison Square Garden has suspended all events.

We also see the closure of museums and shows.

• The 9/11 Memorial Museum is closed for a "temporary period of time".
• The American Museum of Natural History is temporarily closed.
• Broadway theaters closed with theaters, the limitation on theaters will be in effect until further notice.
• The Brooklyn Museum is closed to the public and postpones or cancels all public programs until further notice, including events scheduled until the end of April.
• The Bronx Museum of Arts temporarily closed and all scheduled events are canceled.
• Carnegie Hall until further notice. The Metropolitan Opera canceled all shows until further notice, offering those who had purchased tickets for those events a refund or credit for a future show.
• The Cooper Hewitt - The Barrio Museum - The Frick Collection until April 3
• The Guggenheim is temporarily closed "until further notice" and all events at the museum until April 30 are canceled or postponed.
• The Jewish Museum is closed for two weeks
• The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced the closure of all three locations, starting March 13. An early reopening date has not been announced.
• The Morgan Library and Museum is closed until March 30th and has canceled all events and programs scheduled for the month.
• The Museum of the City in New York is temporarily closed.
• The Museum of Modern Art, MoMa, as well as the sister institution MoMA PS1 and its MoMA Design Stores, will close until March 30, when the museum "will reevaluate the situation".
• The Neue Galerie is closed "until further notice".
• The New-York Historical Society is closed until the end of March
• The New York Philharmonic canceled all performances from March 12th to 31st.
• The Whitney Museum has temporarily closed and will "cancel all events" for an indefinite period of time.
