The
National September 11th Memorial & Museum hosted its annual commemoration ceremony to honor the 2,983 men, women, and children killed in the 2001 attacks at the World Trade Center site, the Pentagon, aboard Flight 93, and those killed in the February 26, 1993, World Trade Center bombing.
The commemoration was started, and still is, for the victims' family members who have the chance to remeber those losts by reading their names.
It's one of the most solemn remembrance day our city, and country, has and often public figures and politicians attend to pay their respects. This year Vice President Kamala Harris and husband Doug Emhoff were joined by current New York City Mayor Eric Adams and former Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Although politicians are invited to attend, even active presidents themselves, by tradition, they do speak at the ground zero ceremony.
May we never forget all those we lost and the incredible bravery and dedication of all those that helped during the attacks.
