June is known as the Pride Month in New York City & the U.S. Throughout the month, the city will host and sponsor several events to celebrate and honor the LGBTQ+ heritage and community. Did you know that the first March was held in 1970? Since then this annual event has become a staple in the civil rights demonstration.
This year the
Pride March Route will be changing starting from 5th Avenue & 25th Street near Madison Square Park. Those looking to participate in the March should be heading down to the formation area north of 25th street before 12 pm.
The Year Route:
- Down 5th Ave from 25th Street to 8th Street
- West to 7th Avenue
- Up on 7th Ave from Christopher to 15th Street
The March will pass in front of the historic
Stone Wall Inn & The Gay Liberation National Monument.
