The National Academy
founded in 1825 as the national academy of design, is not only a museum, is also an artists' honorary association and
an art school. The permanent collection showcases paintings, sculptures, graphic art and architectural designs.
A separate section holds a
collection of treasures from the Renaissance.The Academy houses the largest
American art collection from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The collection includes over
5000 works in almost every artistic style of the past two centuries, and includes portraiture from the Federal Period, naturalistic landscapes of the
Hudson River School and the studies of light of
American Impressionism.
The figurative arts account the diversity of art-periods, national experience, individual creativity and community values. Inside the museum you will find
paintings, sculptures, textiles and more. (Tapestries, etc)

Monday and Tuesday: closed
Wednesday - Sunday 11AM – 6PM
Closed: 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day.
